Do you want to replace the drum of your washing machine, but you are not sure how to do it? No problem, with this step-by-step plan you'll have it fixed in no time!
What do you need?
Always first:
- Unplug the drum.
- Turn off the faucet.
- Tip: When disassembling the old part, take regular pictures, so you can easily see how to reassemble the new part.
Replacing the drum of the washing machine:
It may be wise to call in a mechanic for this.
1. Detach the top panel of the washing machine.
Turn the washing machine over. Loosen the top panel of the washing machine by unscrewing the screws on the back of the washing machine. You will then see the inside at the top of the machine.
2. Loosen the screws on the front control panel.
Then carefully disconnect all the plugs/wires using a screwdriver by pushing the latch back. You can put the control panel aside. Now that the control panel is loose, you can also detach the large front panel including washer door. First loosen the door by opening the door and loosening the screws at the hinge. Then loosen all screws at the bottom of the machine (from the front panel).
3. Loosen the door rubber.
Open the door. You can see the door rubber. The door rubber is secured with a clamping ring. Loosen this. Pull the door rubber loose and fold the door rubber inward, into the drum.
4. Remove the front and rear panel.
You will see all the bolts/screws around the tub. Loosen all these. You can already remove the front fairing half now. Now go to the back of the device again. You'll see a metal back panel. Loosen this by unscrewing all the screws.
5. Remove the old drum from the tub.
Loosen the string from the large wheel at the back of the drum. Loosen the bolt on this string wheel. Remove the string wheel. Remove the old drum from the tub.
6. Place the new drum in the tub.
Put the string wheel back and retighten the bolt on it. Put the front of the tub back and retighten the bolts and screws.
7. Reattach the panel.
Also reattach the front panel by tightening the screws.
8. Reinstall the door rubber and door.
Place the door rubber back in the correct way, including the clamping ring. Replace the door by tightening the hinge again.
9. Place the components back.
Reconnect the wiring to the control panel. Place the panel in the correct position and fasten the screws. Attach the string to the back. Put the string around the motor wheel first and then around the string wheel. Reattach the back panel by tightening the screws. Reinstall the top panel. Your unit is ready to use again!
